Search Results (or Results)

Glossary of Web Design Terms

What do people mean when they talk about search results?

Search Results (or Results)

Search results are the list of responses that a search engines provides in response to a search query.

Search results can be from a major internet search engine, such as Google or Bing, or may be from search of one specific web site.

Why Does This Matter to Me?

Many people will find your web site, at least initially, by searching at their favorite search engine and then seeing a link to your web site from those search results.

For this reason, search engine optimization is an important factor in the design and development of your web site. You want to make sure that your web site is listed in the search results when a potential visitor is searching for your products or services.

Search results can also be the responses to a search of your own web site. Many web sites allow users to search just that site, especially if the site contains a large volume of products or articles, and may be cumbersome or time consuming to just navigate to the specific page a user is looking for.

From Our Web Design Portfolio...

The MisCon web site is intended to inform science fiction, fantasy, and horror fans of the theme, focus, and schedule for the next upcoming MisCon. Attracting fans from the wide open spaces of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming is not an easy task, and having an accurate, up-to-date, and engaging site is imperative to attracting new attendees to Missoula every Memorial Day weekend.
