What is WWW?
WWW stands for World Wide Web. This abbreviation is frequently used as a prefix in server names to differentiate web servers from other servers within a domain or network, such as email servers.
Many sites use the familiar www. prefix at the beginning of their web address. Though this used to be necessary to insure that traffic was directed to the correct server, it is less so now. You can choose to have the www. included in your web address or not.
However, remember that if you choose not to include this in your web address, many people will expect it to be necessary, or will type it out of habit, so it is important to make sure that the address gets properly redirected, and people who do type the www. do not get an error page.
