User Agent

Glossary of Web Design Terms

What is a user agent?

User Agent

A user agent is a software program used to access specific types of data, usually over the internet. User agents include web browsers, web readers, feed readers, and email programs, among other kinds of software.

Why Does This Matter to Me?

There are many different user agents for viewing (or experiencing) web pages (web browsing), for accessing RSS feeds, and for accessing storing, and reading email. Though each user agent will display and interpret content slightly differently, at Paydirt Design we work with you to minimize these differences and insure the best, most consistent user experience regardless of your customer's user agent. We accomplish this by simply complying with web standards to insure browser compatibility.
